comments for poster "IDIOT" by Carianne at durexhibit.co.uk

There is no excuse for not using protection. My aim was to show what message you're actually conveying to your partner when you try to avoid condoms.

if you are going to have word play then it needs to be consistent - what do the I and the T stand for? they are just randomly there - message still clear but execution needs work.

Having the I and the T portray a stronger message as they emphasise the word IDIOT.

why is there a random 'T"...i like the idea but the execution is poor as the copy lacks consistency

I think the poster brings out a very powerful message to the reader, which is emphasised very cleverly by the word 'idiot' (both because it is perpendicular to the quote and because it is written in red). Furthermore the word 'idiot' has two meanings: a) that one's an 'idiot' for not using condoms because (s)he does not care about getting STIs; and b) because (s)he does not care about the partner (s)he is having sex with as they might get STIs. Overall sends out a good message, though I feel it is particularly aimed at boys. One other thing, perhaps the T which dangles at the end could be converted into something like 'Tom, 19' so it shows that people actually say this kind of thing

I think it is a very clever way of getting the message across. It's eye catching and quick to the point therefore the absence of words by the I and T make the poster easier to read without being swamped by lettering.

Carianne well done :) I think this is really good! It's simple yet gets the message across very clearly. The use of red is eyecatching too. Ignore the negative comments regarding the I and the T - the fact that they are not part of a word themselves is irrelevant. Excellent work :D
